In the back of our minds we all have that part of our brain that feeds our desire to make it big. Whether you have a small blog somewhere on the internet or a fast growing business, everyone at some point dreams of a life with more money. These thoughts seem to be much more frequent these days with all the buzz about booming start-ups and overnight success stories like Facebook or Digg. It still surprises me though how all these internet success stories have come about, and yet we don’t often get any interesting TV shows or specials revolving around internet life. Well, in my quest for some quality tech lifestyle entertainment I happened across a 1 season series of a show that anyone with an interest in the internet and entrepreneurship should definitely check out!
In a previous post I talked about a TV special called The Entrepreneur Spotlight, and now I’m glad to report back with another interesting show revolving around using the internet as a means of entrepreneurship. The name of the show is “The Next Internet Millionaire“ and it is only available on the web. It was originally aired at the end of 2007 through 13 web episodes where 12 finalists competed to be the next big internet entrepreneur success story. The show is setup in the style of the reality show The Apprentice where someone is eliminated each week until there is only one. I’ve watched 3 episodes so far and have found it quite enjoyable. Here’s what I like and what I don’t like so far about the series:
What I Like:
- Weekly Challenges – range from creating your own brand to starting your own blog
- Guest Speakers – each episode has had a guest speaker with some pretty useful info.
- Judge Feedback – Information seems quite useful for any new entrepreneur.
- Overall concept of the show
What I Dislike:
- Every so often you here something mentioned that is slightly dated (show made in 2007)
- Low budget for show
