You’re outside on a nice sunny day typing away on your laptop or away from your desk working remotely from your new snazzy netbook.  Before you know it as it would seem, that little warning pops up saying 10% of battery power left. You quickly grab your power cord and frantically start looking for any available nearby outlet. This can be quite a nuisance for many of us, and what happens when you forget your power cord at home!  Our mobile devices are bound and shackled to wired electricity. Well, what if I told you that was all about to change in the near future?

Wireless Electricity?

Wireless electricity has become a very popular topic of discussion in many technology circles.  The idea of not having to charge your laptop or cellphone with a power cord is a dream I think we all share.   I came across an article on CNN yesterday about this very topic, which inspired me to write this post.  Here’s what you should know:

  • Companies like WiTricity and Giler are working to create wireless electricity for the public
  • Device converts electricity into magnetic field to send through the air to your mobile device
  • Be on the lookout for product offerings from companies in the near future (next 1-2 years)
  • Could replace batteries and power cords as we know it

It’s crazy to think that the words power cord and battery could be foreign to the next generation.  Hopefully, the days of tangled power cord messes and dead batteries are close to being a thing of the past!  In the meantime, be sure to leave a comment and let us know what you think about the idea of wireless electricity?
