What do Halloween and Entrepreneurs alike have in common this year?  The answer is Oren Peli’s film Paranormal Activity.  I’m sure many of you have heard of the blockbuster movie currently in theaters, but what many of you may not know is that the movie was actually created by one man with a budget of less than $15,000.  Oren Peli by all accounts can and should be considered a entrepreneur who recently hit success.  More »

Digg.com founder Kevin Rose continues to be one of my favorite young entrepreneurs to follow.  I recently re-watched a interview that TechCrunch did with Kevin a few months ago and wanted to share it here for two reasons.  The first being that Kevin reveals a lot of details about how he took Digg from a small website to an internet sensation and explains all the steps in order, which is great for anyone looking for a real life example from an entrepreneur who has made it.  Second, it really helps to show that anyone  with a good idea and some hard work can make their dreams come true to say the least!

Maybe it’s just me, but I think often times we tell ourselves that no matter what we do we’ll never get to that level of success.  We often see that success as almost a whole different world that is out of reach!  The fact is though while it’s never easy,  it’s much more in reach than you might think. See for yourself!

Gary Vaynerchuk (pronounced: vay * ner * chuk) is the founder of the popular website Wine Library and even more recently now has branched out into the area of motivational speaker endorsing the idea of following your true passions and interests in life. You might know him as the wine guy. Look for more on Gary Vaynerchuk in the near future in one of our upcoming entrepreneur spotlights.

In the meantime, I wanted to share this video someone sent me recently where Gary discusses how you can use the web to become a success doing what you really care about.  Hopefully, this will wet your appetite for a full discussion on Vaynerchuk, which I’m currently working on.  Enjoy!

(Note: There is some minor foul language in this clip for anyone who might want to know – nothing major.)

Talk about excitement! He has some real energy behind his words, which I think really helps carry Vaynerchuk’s message across. As always, please leave a comment and let us know what you are thinking!  Thanks and have a great weekend everyone!

Craigslist.com started out as a small local bulletin service in 1995 and has since exploded into one of the most popular sites on the internet.  A name that now holds a common place in  homes across the country continues to maintain it’s simplistic view, which helped it to grow so successfully.   This week in the spotlight we take a look at entrepreneur Craig Newmark, who founded the popular internet bulletin site known as Craigslist, and we’ll break down just how he did it. For the past several months, I’ve invested a great deal of my time into researching and understanding just how professional bloggers make their money.  Let me start by saying that I consider a professional blogger to be anyone who operates a blog full-time and is able to generate a livable income from that blog.  I’ve often thought wouldn’t it be great if there was a do-it-yourself guide written by a professional blogger, which walked you through step-by-step on how they make a living of their blog?  Well, I’m happy to report that I recently stumbled upon such a guide! Kevin Rose (digg) recently gave a very interesting presentation, which covered 10 ways to take your site from one to one million users.  What I really like about this presentation is that Kevin gets down to the nitty gritty here with specific examples that anyone with their own site can take home and apply. I encourage anyone with their own site to take a look.
